A man and woman have been charged after multiple fires were deliberately started in Ayrshire.

A 43-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman have been arrested and charged in connection to the fires in Crosshouse.

On August 19 this year, around 1.25am, police were called to reports of a fire at a Spar shop on Kilmarnock Road.

A further incident occurred on Monday, August 29 at around 1.25am when police received reports of a car crashing into the same Spar shop and a subsequent fire at the store.

Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to extinguish the fires and no one was injured in the incidents.

Police say both the man and woman have been released on an undertaking and are due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at a later stage.
