A man has admitted killing a 28-year-old who was found injured in a Glasgow street five years ago.
Billy Joe Bates died in hospital days after being found seriously injured in Milton on November 18, 2018.
Mr Bates’ “devastated” family previously said they would never get over his death.
On Wednesday, police confirmed a man had been convicted of the culpable homicide of Mr Bates.
Dean Ferguson pled guilty to culpable homicide at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
The 31-year-old will be sentenced at a later date.
Detective Chief Inspector Lynsey Watters said: “This has been a long and complicated case and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Billy Joe. This conviction shows that no matter the length of time, we will use all the tools we have to investigate and bring people who are intent on committing crime to justice.
“I would like to thank everyone who assisted with what was a complex investigation.”
