A 74-year-old man has been taken to hospital after falling off scaffolding while working in Airdrie town centre.
The man has been transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after falling from scaffolding on South Bridge Street in the town centre.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 12.45pm on Wednesday, February 7.
Officers closed the road to allow access for emergency services.
Police say enquiries are ongoing and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a 74-year-old man having fallen from a scaffolding while working on South Bridge Street in Airdrie around 12.45pm on Wednesday, February 7.
“The man has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.
“The road has been closed to allow emergency services access.
“Enquiries are ongoing and the Health and Safety Executive has been made aware.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12:26 to attend an incident on South Bridge Street, Airdrie.
“An ambulance, trauma team and special operations resource teams (SORT) were dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.”
A HSE spokesperson said: “We are aware of this incident and working with Police Scotland.”
