A 71-year-old man has died following a fire that broke out at a block of flats in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Ascot Court in Anniesland just before 7pm on Thursday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We were called to a report of a fire at a property on Ascot Court, Glasgow, around 6.50pm on Thursday, November, 30.

“Emergency services attended and a 71-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His next of kin are aware.

“A joint investigation was carried out with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and it is not being treated as wilful.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for comment.
