A man has died after a shooting in South Lanarkshire.
Emergency services were called to a disturbance on Caithness Street, Blantyre at around 5pm on Monday after a gun shot was reported.
A 26-year-old man was found injured and taken to University Hospital in Wishaw where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A police spokeswoman said: “At around 5pm on Monday, 17 we were called to a report of a disturbance outside an address in Caithness Street, Blantyre, in which it was alleged that a firearm had been discharged.
“A 26-year-old man was injured during the incident and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Wishaw, where he died a short time later.
“A post mortem will take place to establish the exact cause of his death which at this time police are treating as suspicious and enquiries are continuing.
“Officers are in the area to provide public reassurance.
“Any information about the incident can be passed to officers at the scene or via 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
