Driver dies after articulated lorry crashes on A77 closing road

A 53-year-old man has died following a lorry crash on a major Ayrshire road on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called after a one-vehicle crash on the A77 near Kirkoswald at around 9am on December 28.

The driver of a Mercedes Actros large goods vehicle, the only one involved in the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have said his family have been made aware.

The road was closed for several hours and reopened at around 12.30pm.

Police are now appealing for information to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

Sergeant Gordon Stewart said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

“In particular, we are appealing for anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to make contact with officers.”
