Homes evacuated and woman in hospital after car crash causes gas leak 

Properties in Lennoxtown have been evacuated after a car crash caused a gas leak in Crosshill Street on Friday evening.

A number of properties have been evacuated and a woman has been taken to hospital after a car crash in East Dunbartonshire caused a gas leak.

Emergency services were called to at around 5.45pm on Friday after a crash on Crosshill Street, Lennoxtown.

A 54-year-old woman was taken to hospital. Officers confirmed she has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A number of nearby properties have been evacuated following a gas leak and road closures are in place.

Emergency services remain at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.45pm on Friday, May 12, 2023, we were called to a report of a crash which resulted in a gas leak on Crosshill Street, Lennoxtown.

“A 54-year-old woman has been taken to hospital. She’s also been arrested in connection with the incident.

“A number of properties have been evacuated as a precaution and road closures are in place.

“Emergency services remain at the scene.”
