School forced to cancel trips after new minibus 'vandalised'

A Glasgow school has been left “horrified and disgusted” after their new minibus was vandalised.

St Francis Primary, based in the Gorbals area, took to X to reveal that their brand new minibus had its windows smashed over the bank holiday weekend.

The school added that they were planning “end of term adventures” for the children – which will now need to be cancelled.

They wrote: “We are absolutely horrified and disgusted that our brand new minibus has been vandalised over the holiday weekend.

“Two weeks planning end-of-term adventures for our children which will now have to be cancelled.”

Deputy leader of the Labour Group in Glasgow Dr Soryia Siddique has hit out at the ‘mindless destruction’.

She said: “This is so disappointing for pupils and the learning community.

“This mindless destruction is unacceptable.

“I will raise it with Glasgow City Council to explore any support that can be provided.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.45am on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, we received a report that a vehicle and windows had been damaged at a premises on Old Rutherglen Road, Glasgow.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
