An easyJet flight from Glasgow to Gran Canaria was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday due to “technical issues”.

Flight EZY3111 was diverted to Gatwick where it was met by emergency services.

The travel company apologised to the 179 passengers onboard and said a replacement aircraft was made available for them later that day.

A spokesperson for easyJet said: “We can confirm that flight EZY3111 from Glasgow to Grand Canaria on 29 March diverted to Gatwick due to a technical issue.

“The aircraft landed safely in Gatwick and was met by emergency services as a routine and precautionary measure only.

“We did all possible to minimise the impact for our passengers and arranged for a replacement aircraft for them to continue their journey and they were provided with a complimentary service onboard.

“The safety of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and we would like to apologise to customers for the delay and inconvenience caused.”
