Five in hospital after vehicle strikes car in hit and run crash

Five people have been taken to hospital after a vehicle struck a car in a hit and run crash in South Lanarkshire.

Police were called to Hamilton’s Burnbank Road at 6pm on Friday after a dark coloured SAAB smashed into another vehicle and failed to stop.

Five occupants of the car were taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment.

Police are now hunting the hit and run driver and are appealing for witnesses of the crash to come forward.

Constable Alan Frame said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and are keen to trace the driver of the car involved.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have any information that could assist us to get in touch.

“The area was busy at the time and I would also ask any motorists who have dashcam footage of the incident to get in touch.”
