A cosmetics brand based on the Isle of Arran has produced 15,000 bars of soap to give away free to the islanders in a bid to help the local community protect itself against the coronavirus outbreak.

Arran Sense of Scotland’s signature soap will be distributed in bags of five per household.

With the help of Visit Arran, the company will also be delivering bars to all the schools and nurseries on the island for pupils and staff.

Hand care packs – with hand wash and hand cream – will also be issued to families in the fight against the spread of the virus.

Community spirit: Arran Sense of Scotland will donate soap to the islanders.

Janet Russell, founder of Arran Sense of Scotland, said: “It’s vital that in times of need we pull together and support our local communities.

“Given that we’re separated from the mainland, we will do everything we can to help keep local residents safe at this time.”
