Emergency services tackling a house fire in North Lanarkshire have taken six people to hospital.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze in Wishaw at 7.26pm on Friday.

Control dispatched four appliances and 14 firefighters are tackling the blaze that has taken hold in a two-storey property on Stewarton Street.

Firefighters passed the six casualties into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and they were transferred to hospital.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said said: “Operations control mobilised four appliances to the scene and firefighters are working to extinguish a fire affecting a two-storey property.

“Six casualties were passed into the care of Scottish Ambulance Service and crews remain at the scene.”
