An 81-year-old man is in hospital in a serious condition after a road crash on the A815 in Dunoon.

Police Scotland said he was driving a Morris 14 on Saturday afternoon near the entrance to Hunters Quay Holiday Village when the vehicle lost control and left the road.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where staff described his condition as serious but stable.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney of the Road Policing Unit said: “Enquiries into the cause of this crash are continuing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this crash to contact us.

“I would also ask any drivers on this road around the time who have dashcam to please check their footage and get in touch if it holds anything relevant.”
