Man in hospital after 'serious assault' at car park in early hours

Police are now urging any witnesses or drivers who were in the area at the time to get in contact.

A man is in hospital after being seriously assaulted in a car park in the early hours of Saturday morning in Dumfries.

At around 4am, a 30-year-old man was seriously assaulted in a car park on Nunholm Road, and was then taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

Police are now urging any witnesses or drivers who were in the area at the time to get in contact.

Detective Sergeant Paul Steele said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this attack along with identifying and tracing those responsible.

“At this early stage I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact us. I would also appeal to any drivers in this area around 4am on Saturday morning who may have captured footage of this incident to get in touch as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information should contact 101 with reference number 1015 of September 30.”
