Driver in hospital after car 'left road' during serious crash

The road was closed until around 3.30am on Thursday to allow for investigation.

Driver in hospital and road closed for hours after serious car crash on B7078 in Lanarkshire Google Maps

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after his car crashed off the road in Lanarkshire.

At around 6.35pm on Wednesday, March 8, a red Vauxhall Corsa left the B7078 road between Kirkmuirhill and Lesmahagow.

The driver, a 22-year-old man, was taken to Wishaw General Hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.

The road was closed until around 3.30am on Thursday, March, 9 to allow for investigation. Officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder, from the Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said: “I’d like to thank those members of the public who stopped and helped at the scene, and for those who have already spoken with police.

“Our enquiries into this incident remain ongoing and I would continue to ask for anyone who was in the area and may have seen the crash, or the Corsa involved, or have possible dashcam footage from the area, to please come forward.

“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 3095 of March 8.”
