A man has been taken to hospital after his car collided with a wall on the A77 in Kilmarnock.

The incident, which involved a blue BMW 320, took place at around 9.20am on Tuesday, March 14, on the A77 near junction six at Fenwick.

The 48-year-old driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.

Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed for a period of six hours while investigations were carried out.

Officers have now appealed for witnesses in the area with information to come forward.

Sergeant Stewart Taylor from Irvine Road Policing Unit said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

“In particular, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist, please get in touch.

“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 0698 of March 14.”
