DPD driver ‘stabbed’ while dropping off delivery

Police investigating report of incident involving two men in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire.

A delivery driver was taken to hospital after being attacked on Tuesday afternoon.

The worker was reportedly stabbed as he dropped off an item in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.40pm, police received a report of a disturbance in involving two men in Portland Place, Hamilton. 

“One man has been taken to hospital following a serious assault. Officers remain at the scene conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances.”

It’s been reported the victim was stabbed in the stomach and leg before the attacker made off.

A spokesperson for DPD said: “We can confirm that a DPD driver was involved in a serious incident earlier today and that we are currently helping the police with their investigation. 

“At this moment, all our thoughts are with our driver who was attacked while going about his normal day-to-day work. 

“Our team will continue to provide every assistance with the investigation and if we are able to comment further in the future we will.”
