Several homes in Glasgow have been evacuated due to an ongoing gas leak.

Police confirmed that residents on Dixon Avenue in the city’s southside were evacuated as a “precaution” at around 3.45pm on Thursday.

The force confirmed that Dixon Avenue at Langside Road is currently closed along with Westmoreland Street at Allison Street.

The location of the gas leak has been identified and engineers are currently working to resolve the situation.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 3.45pm on Thursday, January 18, police were alerted to a gas leak in Dixon Avenue, Glasgow.

“Several properties have been evacuated as a precaution and engineers are on site and have identified the location of the leak.

“Dixon Avenue at Langside Road is closed along with Westmoreland Street at Allison Street.”
