A total of 38 workers at a Royal Mail office in Glasgow have tested positive for coronavirus.
The postal service confirmed the outbreak at its mail centre in Springburn, where around 1000 people are employed.
A deep clean of the site has been carried out and a “range of preventive measures” put in place.
Royal Mail said in a statement: “Royal Mail takes the health and safety of its colleagues, its customers and the local communities in which we operate very seriously.
“Glasgow Mail Centre has an operation of around 1000 employees. There is currently 38 colleagues that has tested positive for coronavirus at Glasgow Mail Centre. We wish them a speedy recovery.
“We have carried out an intensive clean of the site and have organised additional cleaning of key touch points and all communal areas. We are keeping the CWU and colleagues updated.”
The service added that “every decision” made puts the health of its “people and customers first”.
