A pair of cousins caught on CCTV brutally murdering a man have been convicted.
William McMahon, 47, and David McMahon, 41, attacked Christopher McGee in the garden of a home in Hamilton on November 5, 2021, leaving the 36 year-old unconscious.
William initially punched the victim before David smacked him with a glass bottle.
As Mr McGee lay stricken, the older cousin kicked him “like a football”.
He passed away in hospital days after the attack.
The McMahons had denied murder during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow, but jurors convicted both of the charge.
The men were remanded in custody and each face a life sentence when they return to the dock in the New Year.
A large group of Christopher’s family and friends were in court to hear the verdicts.
There was a loud round of applause from them as the McMahons were lead handcuffed to the cells.
The trial heard how the men had been with others outside the house before violence erupted.
William punched the victim before David struck Mr McGee with a bottle.
The victim was knocked unconcious. William kicked him on the head and body.
One witness said: “It sounded like hard kicks – like you would with a football.”
Mr McGee was given CPR by a resident before he was taken to hospital.
He was found to have brain damage, never recovered and passed away on November 8 at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
The McMahons will each be jailed for life and will learn the minimum they will spend behind bars in January.
