Cocaine worth £1.2m found after van stopped on motorway

Police found 30kg of the class A drug after stopping the vehicle on the M74 northbound.

Cocaine worth £1.2m has been found in a van on the M74.

Police stopped the vehicle in Dumfries and Galloway around 4.15pm on Thursday.

Officers found 30kg of the class A drug and a man has now been charged.

The 33-year-old is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Friday.

Detective superintendent Alan O’Brien said: “This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and we are determined to continue the disruption and supply of drugs throughout the country.”
