A shopkeeper was allegedly caught selling vapes to children following an operation between Trading Standards and Police Scotland.

A shopkeeper has been charged after allegedly ‘selling vapes to children’.

The shopkeeper was reportedly caught following a joint operation between Trading Standards and Police Scotland.

Officers shared a picture of a number of vapes believed to have been recovered during the operation.

The law currently restricts sales of e-cigarettes to under 18’s.

An investigation in August 2023 found that one in five shops within Scotland are willing to sell vapes to under 18s.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland West Dunbartonshire said: “Clydebank shopkeeper selling vapes to children, was charged this week after a joint operation between Trading Standards and Police Scotland.

“If you suspect any premises of criminality, report anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Trading Standards have been contacted for comment.
