Firefighters continue to tackle a blaze at nursery school building in Glasgow.
Roads have been forced to close and residents in the Gallowgate area have been urged to keep their windows shut due to smoke from the fire.
Six crews were called to the derelict Elba Lane Nursery to the rear of St Michael’s Lane near Springfield Gardens after the alarm was raised at 9.55pm on Tuesday.
Emergency crews remain at the scene on Monday morning.
Springfield Road is closed from the Gallowgate to Dechmont Street as emergency services continue to deal with the fire.
Drivers have been advised to seek alternative routes if possible.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We can confirm we are in attendance at a derelict building fire.
“We were alerted at 21.55pm and crews are still on scene.
“There are currently six appliances in attendance.”
A police spokesperson said: “Police and emergency services are in attendance at a fire in a building to the rear of St Michael’s Lane near Springfield Gardens, Gallowgate, Glasgow.
“Officers were called to the blaze around 9.55pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
“Due to the smoke from the building, residents in the nearby streets are advised to keep their windows closed until further notice.
“St Michael’s Lane is closed at this time.”
