Cars catch fire after collision on motorway

Two cars have burst into flames after a crash on the M80 in North Lanarkshire.

A red Vauxhall Astra and a silver BMW were involved in a collision at a slip road near Castlecary on the northbound route.

Neither of the four people involved, three in the Astra and one in the BMW, were injured.

Police say a 52-year-old woman was issued a fixed penalty notice over the incident.

M80 lanes 1 and 2 northbound were both closed at junction 6 for around an hour as emergency services brought the fire under control and cleared the area.

Both roads have since reopened.
