Brother to stand trial over teenage sister Amber Gibson’s murder in Hamilton Police Scotland

A man will stand trial accused of murdering his teenage sister and leaving her body in a park.

Connor Gibson allegedly killed Amber Niven, also known as Amber Gibson, 16, at Cadzow Glen in Hamilton, Lanarkshire on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Amber had been reported missing from after failing to return home.

The 16-year-old’s body was discovered in the town’s Cadzow Glen two days later.

Her 20-year-old brother, who also goes by Connor Niven, is accused of repeatedly inflicting blunt force trauma to Amber’s head and body before strangling her.

Gibson faces further charges of attempting to defeat the ends of justice and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Another man will stand trial accused of inappropriately touching Amber’s dead body.

Stephen Corrigan, 44, allegedly committed a breach of the peace and attempted to defeat the ends of justice between in November 2021.

The pair are due to appear at the High Court in Glasgow this week.
