A seven-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after being injured falling off his bike in East Ayrshire.

Officers were called to Hamilton Drive in New Cumnock at around 8pm on Monday, May 13 following reports of the child being injured.

He was airlifted to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

The road was closed for around two hours to allow for police investigations to take place.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8pm on Monday, May 13, 2024 we were called to a child having been injured after falling from his bike in the Hamilton Drive area of New Cumnock.

“Emergency services attended and the seven-year-old boy was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

“The road was closed for around two hours while investigations were carried out.”
