iStockA boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of a young woman in Renfrewshire.
The girl was attacked on a farm road near to Napier Street in Johnstone at around 10.20pm.
Police were called to the scene and a young man was arrested a short time later.
Officers investigating the incident say their enquires are ongoing and have urged anyone with any information to contact them as soon as possible.
A police spokesperson confirmed the arrest.
She said: “At around 10.20pm on Saturday, officers were called to a report of a male youth having serious sexually assaulted a female youth on a farm road near to Napier Street in Johnstone.
“A male youth has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
“Anybody with any information should contact Police via 101 quoting incident number 3803 of Saturday, 30 April, 2022.”
