Police closed Balmore Road in Glasgow for more than four hours while an initial investigation into the incident was carried out.

A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Glasgow.

The teenager was rushed to the city’s Royal Hospital for Children following the incident on Balmore Road, in the Lambhill area, involving a Toyota Aygo shortly before 6pm on Wednesday, May 10.

Road policing officers shut the area between Skirsa Street and Ashgill Road for more than four hours while an initial investigation into the collision was carried out.

Police Scotland has launched an appeal for information.

Sergeant Nicholas Twigg said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area around this time and who witnessed the crash to contact us.

“We are particularly keen to hear from the driver of a white lorry who we believe was in the area around the time of the incident and may be able to assist us.

“I would also ask anyone who was on the road at the time and who may have dash-cam footage to get in touch.”
