Bomb squads have been made aware of a “suspected ordnance” on a beachfront in Inverclyde.
HM Coastguard teams attended the beachfront along the Cloch Road in Gourock after 1.10pm on Thursday after receiving a report of a potential ordnance.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team and Police Scotland have been made aware of the incident.
Teams from Greenock’s Coastguard Rescue were also sent to attend.
An HM Coastguard spokesperson said: “At around 1.10pm today (Thursday, July 25), HM Coastguard received a report of suspected ordnance on Levan Beach in Gourock, Scotland.
“Greenock Coastguard Rescue Team was sent to attend.
“An explosive ordnance disposal team and Police Scotland have been informed.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
