A body has been found in the search for a doctor who disappeared from her home at the weekend.

Catriona Gaskell, also known as Cat, was last seen leaving her house in Fallow Grove in Newton, Cambuslang, at around 7.55pm on Saturday.

Formal identification has yet to take place but the 29-year-old’s family have been informed.

Police said the medic had never gone missing before after she was last seen walking towards Red Deer Road and into the wooded area nearby.

At around 10.45am on Monday, officers searching for her discovered a body in a wooded area in Newton.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Ms Gaskell’s family has asked that their privacy be respected at this very distressing time.”
