A driver has been arrested after allegedly crashing his car while drink-driving during a race in Glasgow.

Police launched a pursuit of a BMW driver after he was spotted racing other cars in the Glasgow city centre on Wednesday night.

After failing to stop for officers, the vehicle crashed, and the 29-year-old driver failed a subsequent breathalyser test.

Officers confirmed he was arrested for road traffic offences.

A spokesperson for North Glasgow police said: “The driver of this BMW was spotted racing other vehicles by DVRU officers last night.

“He failed to stop for officers before crashing and running off.

“The male driver aged 29 was caught and failed a breath test.

“He was arrested and will be reported for traffic offences.”
