A Glasgow shopping centre is set to play host to superheroes and characters at an annual comic convention.
The Big Glasgow Comic Page (BGCP) Comic Con event will take place at The Forge in the city’s east end on August 12 and 13.
Between 10am and 4pm across both days, more than 60 traders, artists, toys, crafts, and meet and greets will be hosted in the shopping centre.
Jade Wilkie, marketing manager at The Forge, said: “We’re honoured to have once again partnered with the BGCP this year. We’re huge fans of comic books and the community, so this is perfect.
“Plus, we’re no strangers to offering fun free events that appeal to all ages, so this perfectly fits in.
“Exciting family activities can feel very few and far between these days – especially in the digital age – not to mention incredibly costly. So, we’re delighted to be able to offer yet another free family event this summer.”
Activities will include time-specific ‘meet and greets’ with Spider-Man, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Pikachu, Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Shrek.
Attendees will be able to visit the pop-up free gaming arcade inside the centre’s market village area.
Several Marvel, DC, and Star Wars statues will be dotted around the shopping centre for attendees to find and win a prize, as well as lots of movie and TV props on display across the three-unit event.
BGCP Comic Con organisers said: “BGCP is delighted to be returning to The Forge Shopping Centre with a large-scale event after years away.
“This is our biggest outing yet in the east end, so we hope people attend from far and wide to enjoy a great family-friendly event that doesn’t break the bank and enjoy everything that the centre has to offer while there.”
