A man has been left injured after being seriously assaulted by an armed gang in a late night street attack.
The 33-year-old was on Ardoch Crescent, Dumbarton, when he was assaulted by the men, who were brandishing a variety of weapons, at around 11.50pm on Saturday.
The gang then made off in two cars in the direction of Glencairn Road.
Emergency services attended the scene and the injured man was taken to Royal Alexandria Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
Police investigating the attack are now appealing for witnesses as they look to trace the men responsible.
Officers have moved to reassure the public that they will have additional patrols in the area and say they will deal with the incident ‘robustly’.
Area Commander Chief Inspector Scott Carlin, said: “Violence and antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.
“It is important that we trace those responsible and colleagues in CID are following a positive line of enquiry however I would urge anyone with any information that may assist this enquiry to contact us via 101.”
