A man has admitted igniting a flare at a Celtic and Aberdeen match.

Aaron Doyle, 31, committed the offence at Celtic Park on February 18 2023.

The Hoops hosted the Dons that day in a match the champions would go on to win 4-0.

Court papers state that Doyle, of Antrim, had possession of a smoke flare.

The charge says that he culpably and recklessly ignited as well as held the flare.

This is said to have been to the danger of others.

Doyle also admitted a separate charge of possession of cannabis at the match.

Glasgow Sheriff Court was told that Doyle is a first offender.

The Crown requested a football banning order which will be considered by the Sheriff at next month’s sentencing.

Doyle was granted bail with special conditions not to enter Celtic Park or attend any UK football match.

More information regarding the circumstances of the offence will be heard at the sentencing.
