A teenager was taken to hospital after a violent street attack by two men.

The 17-year-old victim was on the Gallowgate, in Glasgow, close to a bus stop outside Morrisons when he was attacked at around 10.35pm.

He was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary to receive treatment for lacerations. He was released after treatment.

The first suspect is described as a white man, around 6ft tall, with a skinny build. He was wearing dark trousers, a dark hat and jacket and blue trainers.

The second suspect is described as a white man, around 6ft tall, with a slim but muscular build. He was wearing dark trousers, with a dark hat and jacket.

Detective David Lamb, from London Road CID, said: "This appears to have been a violent and unprovoked attack which left the victim with a significant injury.

"We know from our enquiries that a number of people may have witnessed the incident as they left the Heilan Jessie pub. We are keen to speak to a white man described as 50-60 years old. He was wearing a dark jacket and had grey hair.

"I’m also keen to speak to a white woman in her late 30s with shoulder length brown hair. It’s possible the woman was wearing a light coloured body-warmer who was at the bus stop at the time of the assault and later provided first aid.

"If this matches your description I would ask that you get in contact. You may have witnessed the attack or may have seen the direction the suspects ran off in.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and witnessed what happened to get in touch. The information you have may not seem like much, but as part of our broader investigation, it could make all the difference in tracing the men responsible.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at London Road CID on 101."
