Stephen Glass is set to be confirmed as Aberdeen’s new manager.

The former Dons midfielder is to leave his coaching role at US side Atlanta United and take over at Pittodrie following the departure of Derek McInnes.

The 44-year-old Dundonian, who enjoyed spells at Hibs and Newcastle United before moving to America to play and coach, will be announced later today.

Celtic captain Scott Brown, a friend of Glass’ from their playing days at Hibs, is the front-runner to be named as his assistant.

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack lives in Atlanta and is reported to have been impressed by Glass’ management credentials when the Scot stepped up to be interim manager at the Major League Soccer club last year.

Aberdeen and Major League Soccer Atlanta formed a partnership in 2019.
