The nominees have been revealed for the Scottish Football Writers’ Association’s Scotland women’s international player of the year.

Real Madrid star Caroline Weir, who won the prize last year, has again been nominated alongside Chelsea winger Erin Cuthbert.

Scotland skipper Rachel Corsie and Angel City forward Claire Emslie make up the four nominations for the Glen’s sponsored award.

Aston Villa central defender Corsie has helped Scotland keep three clean sheets over the past year and also scored two goals herself.

Weir has scored three goals in Scotland’s 11 games over the past year after bouncing back from missing a penalty in Scotland’s 1-0 World Cup play-off final defeat by Republic of Ireland.

United States-based Emslie has netted twice in the same period and shared the armband with Weir on her 50th international appearance this week.

Cuthbert has also weighed in with two goals and set up the winner in Scotland’s memorable play-off semi-final victory against Austria at Hampden.
