St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin has been given a three-match ban for misconduct.

Goodwin was called to a Scottish FA disciplinary panel after remonstrating with referee Don Robertson after St Mirren drew 1-1 at Hamilton last month.

The result meant that the Paisley side missed out on a top six place on goal difference.

An independent panel found that Goodwin’s behaviour had broken the rules and handed down a three-game suspension.

The Saints boss will serve two games of the ban immediately, starting with Friday night’s Scottish Cup tie against Inverness, with the remaining game suspended until the end of the year.
