Scotland’s Grant Gilchrist will play no further part in this year’s Six Nations after being banned for three weeks following a red card against France.
Gilchrist was sent off just six minutes into the 31-21 defeat in Paris for a high tackle on Anthony Jelonch.
A judicial committee has now ruled that he will serve a suspension and miss the Scotland matches against Ireland and Italy.
An original six-week ban was halved after Gilchrist admitted his guilt and persuaded the committee that there was no intent to harm.
The Edinburgh player was also to miss his club’s match against Connacht on March 25 but Gilchrist will be allowed to take part after agreeing to to go on a tackle coaching course in lieu of a further game’s ban.
The programme is aimed at modifying specific techniques and technical issues that contributed to the foul play.
