Scottish teenager Ben Doak has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool.

The former Celtic youngster, who turned 17 on Friday, has impressed in the English Premier League side’s youth teams since making the £600,000 switch in the summer.

He made his debut for the first team in a League Cup win over Derby County last week before being named on the bench for the EPL clash with Southampton at the weekend.

The winger has scored four goals and contributed four assists in helping Liverpool under-19s reach the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League.

Doak played twice for the Celtic first team, including in a 3-0 win over Rangers last season, before moving to Anfield and fighting for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s star-studded squad.

He has also made a string of impressive appearances for Scotland’s youth sides from the under-16s upwards.

In September he scored seven minutes into his under-21 international debut against Northern Ireland and, at 16, became the youngest player ever to score at that age level for Scotland.
