Rangers have thrashed Dundee at Dens Park in a match that faced lengthy delays on Wednesday night.

Five different goal-scorers were on target for the visitors as they eased past Tony Docherty’s side with a 5-0 win.

The kick-off was delayed for 45 minutes after heavy traffic congestion in the area meant the visitors’ team bus arrived late.

Then the game was put back further due to smoke from a pyro display in the Rangers end.

But once the game started it was pretty much a routine win for the Ibrox men as manager Philippe Clement kept up his 100% winning league start after three games.

The Belgian remains undefeated in all competitions since replacing Michael Beale last month with three wins from three in the Premiership and a draw against Sparta Prague in the Europa League.

Ryan Jack returned to the starting line-up and it was the Scotland international who scored the opener five minutes.

Brazilian forward Danilo was another brought into the team in the place of Cyriel Dessers and he added to his late winner against Hearts at the weekend to double Rangers’ lead early in the second half.

It was one-way traffic for most of the game, but Jack Butland made sure of the clean sheet when he was called into action and made a fine double save on the hour mark as the home side looked to get back into the tie.

Sam Lammers then made sure the three-points would be heading back to Glasgow when he curled a fantastic effort past Trevor Carson and into the top corner to make it 3-0 with 15 minutes remaining.

The Dutchman then turned provider as he put through Dessers with an exquisite pass and the Nigeria forward put the icing on the cake to make it 4-0.

And James Tavernier made it 5-0 when he slotted home a penalty-kick in injury time for his eighth goal of the season.

The win means Rangers stay five points behind Celtic at the top of the Premiership after the league leaders beat St Mirren earlier on Wednesday.
