Rangers cruise past Lincoln Red Imps in Europa League qualifier

Rangers are through to the third qualifying round of the Europa League after defeating Lincoln Red Imps 5-0 in Gibraltar.

James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Jermain Defoe were on the scoresheet with Alfredo Morelos scoring twice.

The Ibrox side progress to face Dutch Eredivisie side Willem II in the next round.

Manager Steven Gerrard had made six changes from the team that defeated Dundee United in the Premiership on Saturday, including the return of Allan McGregor in goal.

Rangers were almost caught cold by the hosts when Lee Casciaro, who has scored against Celtic and Scotland, headed over after just four minutes.

But the visitors settled and were ahead after 21 minutes. Ianis Hagi was fouled by Roy Chipolina and tavernier stepped up to hit the free kick past Kyle Goldwin.

Another free kick doubled their lead. Borna Barisic delivered from the left and Goldson headed home just before the half time whistle.

Morelos was brought on at half-time and he was on the scoresheet twenty minutes later, tapping in after Greg Stewart nodded down a Barisic cross.

Jermain Defoe got in on the act with six minutes to go, turning and firing in a low shot. He then set up Morelos to complete the scoring with a dinked shot two minutes from time.
