Two Scottish Premiership players have been called up to Croatia’s squad for the World Cup finals.
Celtic full-back Josip Juranovic and Rangers defender Borna Barisic have both made the final cut for Qatar 2022 and will join up with their international teammates after their final SPFL games this weekend.
Rangers striker Antonio Colak was not named in the 26-man group despite a prolific start to the season.
Juranovic and Barisic have both been regular internationals in recent years and played their part in qualifying for the finals.
Celtic full-back Juranovic has collected 21 caps since making his debut in 2017, while Barisic has played for his country 27 times, scoring once.
Croatia, ranked 12th in the world, have hopes of doing well in Qatar but were drawn in a competitive group.
Zlatko Dalic’s side begin their campaign against Morocco in Al Khor on November 23, then take on Canada in Al Rayyan four days later.
They complete their group games against top seeds Belgium in Al Rayyan on December 1.
Juranovic and Barisic are two of a number of Scottish-based players heading to the World Cup. Seven Premiership players have been included in Australia’s squad, with other players hoping to make the cut for their countries.
