Rangers have beaten Celtic 1-0 at Ibrox to open up a 19-point lead in the Premiership.

A 70th minute own goal from Callum McGregor was the difference between the sides in a hard-fought derby.

Celtic travelled across the city knowing that they needed a positive result to boost their chances of successfully defending their title and were on top throughout the first half but unable to find the net.

Their upper hand continued after the break but the match turned after 65 minutes when Celtic’s Nir Bitton was sent off.

Five minutes later Rangers had the lead. A corner was met by Joe Aribo and his header came off McGregor’s arm and past Vasilis Barkas into the net.

The hosts held on to take three points and a 19-point lead over Celtic, who have three games in hand.
