Premiership roundup: Hearts win in Perth, Dons held at Livi and Dundee draw with Motherwell SNS Group

The Scottish Premiership has officially returned with the opening games in the top flight taking place on Saturday.

Celtic and Ross County opened the proceedings in Glasgow in a 4-2 win for the champions in the early kick-off.

Turnbull scored twice and a goal each from O’Riley and Kyogo secured the three-points.

In the 3pm kick-offs Hearts got off to a winning start against St Johnstone in Perth with Oda and Shankland scoring in the second-half in a 2-0 win.

Last season’s third placed team Aberdeen were held to a 0-0 draw at Livingston.

There was no shortage of effort from both teams but there was a distant lack of goalmouth action.

Livingston finished the game strongly and at least asked questions of Dons goalkeeper Kelle Roos with efforts from Cristian Montano and Ayo Obileye.

There was little for the 4,000-strong Aberdeen fans to get excited about although Johnny Hayes will be kicking himself that he did not at least find the target from a good position at the back post in the early stages of the second period.

And Lyall Cameron scored an equaliser for Dundee as they drew 1-1 with Motherwell at Dens Park.

Theo Blair put Stuart Kettlewell’s side 1-0 on his debut for the club on the stroke of half-time but that was cancelled out on the hour mark.

Rangers kick-off their campaign against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in Saturday’s late kick-off with debutants named in Michael Beale’s starting line-up.

Hibs and St Mirren complete the opening weekend fixtures when they clash at Easter Road on Sunday.
