Nathan McBeth has signed a new deal with Glasgow that keeps him at Scotstoun until the summer of 2027.
The 25-year-old South African loosehead prop, who qualifies for Scotland courtesy of his grandfather, enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2022-23.
After making his debut away to Benetton in November 2021, McBeth has gone on to record 26 appearances to date and he has come off the bench in both of Glasgow’s fixtures this season.
“It was a really easy decision for my family and I, to be honest,” McBeth told glasgowwarriors.org.
“To stay here in Glasgow around friends made it even easier, and to be able to play under Franco (Smith) and the coaches for the next few years is a fantastic opportunity for me.
“Franco definitely helped me find confidence in myself and my ability last season, and everything just clicked into place.
“Running out at Scotstoun for Family Day against Leinster was such a massive honour. To run out with Noah (McBeth’s new son) for his first time at the game, and winning as well – that’s a day that will live with me forever.
“Glasgow has become our home and I’m proud of that. It’s a proud city and a proud community. I want to give back to this club and this city as much as I can.”
The prop made four youth appearances for Scotland in the 2018 Six Nations Under-20 Championship.
McBeth also represented South Africa, starting in three matches at the 2018 World Rugby Under-20 Championship.
Smith said: “Nathan is a young player who we believe has a great deal of potential. He has a bright future ahead of him.
“He comes to Scotstoun every day ready to work and keen to learn from those around him. We’ve been highly impressed with his development over the last couple of seasons.
“He has fully bought into everything that we are trying to build at this club and we’re excited to continue to see him develop not only as a player, but as a person.”
