New Rangers signing Malik Tillman says he believes he can learn a lot from working under Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Ibrox.

The attacking midfielder joined Rangers on a season-long loan deal from Bayern Munich on Friday.

And Tillman, 20, praised the club’s “crazy” fans, as he said that he can’t wait to get started at Ibrox.

In an interview with Rangers TV, Tillman explained his decision to move to Scotland from Germany.

“Just excited, looking forward to start, I can’t wait to play for this massive club, the good, crazy fans at Ibrox of course,” he said.

“Obviously I want to play more than I ever used to do at Bayern, so joining this club was the best decision because I think I’m going to play here, I can play a big role and develop well and do the best I can.”

Tillman joined Bayern in 2015, representing them at every youth level before breaking into the first team last season.

“I learned many things that I didn’t know before, I think that’s the most important,” he said of his time in Munich.

“Obviously, Bayern is a big club. I think I learned every day from every player.”

The attacker outlined his ability to create and score goals, with Rangers seeking to add to their forward options this season.

“I usually play as a ten or as an eight, so I guess I’m kind of creative, kind of good at finishing, scoring goals, assisting goals, so that’s what I try to do,” he said.

“It’s very nice to have these kind of fans in your back, I think they would push any team forward.

“So I guess it’s amazing to have these fans.”

Tillman expressed his admiration for Rangers manager van Bronckhorst.

He said: “Gio is a big coach, I think he was a great player. He played for Barcelona so I guess he’s a good player, good coach and I can learn a lot from him.”

A US internationalist who made his debut in a friendly against Morocco last month, Tillman set out his aim to be in contention for the World Cup, which begins in Qatar in November.

“The World Cup is coming so I want to be there, I want to play a role in the team for the World Cup, but I have to play more games at club level at the highest level possible,” he said.

“So, that’s why I also made the choice to go to the US, I want to play at the highest level as soon as possible.”

Looking ahead to the season, Tillman expressed his hopes for success with his new club.

He added: “I can’t wait, can’t wait to meet them all, can’t wait to play with them. I hope we will win many games, many titles.”
