Long serving Hibernian players Lewis Stevenson and Paul Hanlon will leave the club at the end of the season.

The pair have played a combined total of over 1,000 games for the Easter Road club but will depart after nearly two decades of service.

Stevenson made his debut in a win over Ayr United as a 17-year-old away back in 2005 and has since made 599 appearances.

That includes 479 in the league that makes him the club record holder for league appearances.

He played in the League Cup final victory in 2007 and Scottish Cup win in 2016 before adding to his medal collection when they won the Scottish Championship in 2017.

Hanlon, who is the current club captain, made his debut for the club in 2008 and has made 562 appearances.

He was also part of the 2016 Scottish Cup winning side, when Rangers were defeated 3-2 at Hampden in Hibs’ first time winning the trophy in over 100 years, and Championship winning side under Neil Lennon the following season.

The club’s owners the Gordon Family commented: “We’d like to begin by thanking Paul and Lewis for everything they have done at Hibernian FC. What they have achieved at the Club is absolutely magnificent and their names will forever be written in the club’s history.

“They will always be considered among the greats at Hibernian FC, which is down to the tremendous roles they’ve played both on and off the pitch. They will always be friends of the Club.

“Our final home game against Motherwell will give us a chance to bid an emotional farewell to both Paul and Lewis, and give them the send-off they deserve.”

Hibs will hold a special tribute to the duo, who currently sit fourth and fifth respectively in the all-time appearance chart, after their final home game of the season against Motherwell on Wednesday, May 15.
