Che Adams has dropped out of the squad for Scotland’s remaining Euro 2024 qualifiers, with Lawrence Shankland taking his place.

Adams was named by Steve Clarke in the original squad announcement last week but the Southampton forward has not joined up with the group that will fly to Turkey for warm weather training ahead of facing Georgia on Thursday.

The nature of Adams’ apparent injury isn’t know but he has remained with his club as Scotland complete their qualifying fixtures, with the team already having secured their place in the finals in Germany next year.

Hearts striker Shankland was left out of last month’s squad to face Spain and France, and looked to have missed out again, but he will now get another opportunity to stake a claim in manager Steve Clarke’s squad for the Euros.

Shankland has ten goals from 19 games in all competitions this season, and scored twice against Motherwell on Saturday.

Scotland face Georgia in Tbilisi on Thursday before returning home to take on Norway in the final qualifying game at Hampden on Sunday.
