Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi says he is hungry for more goals as he targets three points from Kilmarnock on Saturday.

The recently crowned Player of the Month for December admits he is looking to improve in every game as the Hoops look to go 12 points clear at the top of the Premiership.

The Japan forward has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season as he cemented himself as Ange Postecoglou’s number one striker, but he refuses to take all the plaudits as he praised the service provided by his teammates.

Speaking after being named cinch Player of the Month on Friday, he said: “I am really grateful to all my team-mates and the fans for their support in helping me to receive this award.

“I want to score as many goals as possible and lead the team to win games and make my team and the fans happy.

“I want to concentrate on the game in front of me and work hard in training for it so that I can show my best on the pitch. That is the most important thing.”

Celtic host Kilmarnock as they look to get back to winning ways following Monday’s 2-2 draw at Ibrox following Kyogo’s late equaliser that helped them stay nine points clear.

With Rangers not playing Dundee United at Tannadice until Sunday the Hoops have a chance to increase that lead for at least 24 hours if they beat Derek McInnes’s men.

Kyogo is prepared for the challenge as he looks to put a smile on the face of the 60,000 home supporters in the east end of Glasgow.

He said: We’re focused on the next game because we know the next game is important. I hope the fans will enjoy it.

“Every goal is very special to me. I want to do my job as a striker and score more goals and make the fans happy with the results.

“In every game, my team-mates fight strongly on the ball and deliver me a great pass and all I have to do is push the ball into the net.

“I really appreciate them and I want to keep doing this by scoring more goals in the coming games for the team.”
